LWATCH Autumn Newsletter
Hello, friends of Luke Warm and the Cool Hands! How we feelin’? We’re feelin’ not so bad. Maybe we could go out on a limb and say, pretty good. Hey, while we’ve got your attention, we’ve got a question for you:
What Makes You Happy?
You might hear that question a bit for a little while here. That’s because it’s the name of our sophomore album, which is being released Friday, November 25th (so, late, late, late spring, right? Because I think that’s what we said last time we talked). That’s pretty cool, right? We figured Black Friday because we want to do our part to get this economy roarin’ along. And the next day, Saturday, November 26th, we’re having a big ole party at The Hook and Ladder Theater & Lounge in South Minneapolis. We’re honored to be joined on stage with Ryan Young of Trampled by Turtles for the evening. We’ll also have a bunch of other friends join us for our set, which will be followed by another fabulous band, the Stringdingers, who will finish the evening with sweet, sweet music for your ears. We’re going to play some music, tell some stories, and maybe imbibe a beer or two. We’d really like to see you there. Bring some friends – let’s make it merry!
What Makes You Happy?
Perhaps it’s an appropriate question at this time of year when we are giving thanks. Although, we might say that while the questions “What Makes You Happy?” and “What are you thankful for?” are similar in spirit, are they different in scope? Maybe each should be considered separately. We know what makes us happy is seeing all our friends and family get down on a Saturday night. We’d also be pretty thankful for that, too. Hmm, they are hard to separate!
Okay, enough philosophical weirdness – let’s talk about malts.
What Makes You Happy? can be thought of as a nice malt (apologies to the milkshake lovers (or should I say malt powder haters?)). We’ve got the magic that’s created when you mix all the ingredients together just right. LWATCH is the ice cream – the base of our delicious concoction, true; but without all the other added parts, it’s just ice cream. You know? We had Ryan Young add some of his delicious flavor that can be tasted throughout the entire album. We also had numerous special guests add their flavors, too. Some tunes are more chocolate malt. Some are more butterscotch. There might even be a straight up milkshake tune in there, too, in case you aren’t on the malt bandwagon. Hold on a minute, we’re getting hungry here. Be back in a jif (short for jiffy, not some weird pronunciation of the moving picture format).
What were we talking about? Oh yeah, flavors…
We tried to create an album that had something for everybody, but most importantly, it was made for us. We kinda thought, what makes us happy? And we followed that ethos throughout the making of the album. We worked long and hard, and made lots of minor changes that nobody would probably ever notice; but if it didn’t make us happy, what’s the point? You know? Then we got a superb artist, Aaron Renier, to whip up some whimsical artwork to adorn our album. Ultimately, we had something that made us very happy, and we hope it makes you happy, too. So start saving your allowances and pick up a copy of What Makes You Happy? when it comes out in a few short weeks.
We hope you have a fun Halloween and a real nice Thanksgiving.
We’ll see you folks real soon!
Happy & Thankful,
LWATCH

LWATCH fall 2015 Newsletter
We’re happy to say we are alive and well despite the lack of updates from us. We’ve had a lot of exciting things happen in the last few months; we’ve had a couple babies born (congrats, JP and Matthew!), with a couple more on the way (congrats, Charley and Michael!), some hard work in the studio, and some successful shows & benefits. We’ve got a lot more in the works, as well!
We’d just like to take a quick moment to thank you, our fans and supporters. We love you (yes, even you) and are happy you are part of our big extended LWATCH family! You make it all possible! Thanks for your friendship and support all these years!
We are still working hard on our album. Neon Brown studios and LWATCH are still working on getting it sounding just right. We got some great special guests lined up – some old friends and some new ones. Once all the knobs have been twiddled just right, and all the loose ends are tied up, we’ll be sending it off to the presses! We are shooting to release sometime in the 1st or 2nd quarter of next year. We’ve got some exciting things going on and we can’t wait to share them with you!
We’ve got some other great things lined up, too:
We’re supporting Mikel Wright & the Wrongs on 11/28 at Harriet Brewing. If you enjoy music, beer, or a great brewpub atmosphere you’d be remiss to be absent. We’ve been wanting to play with these guys for a long while so it’s exciting to finally be able to share a stage with them. Plus, it’s Mike Periolat’s birthday, so come on down and give him the best birthday present there is: the pleasure of your company.
For you generous types, we’ve got another benefit coming up for a great organization we believe strongly in: Boom Boom’s Beds. You’ve probably heard of them before; in fact this will be the second time we’ve played their annual Beds & Bluegrass benefit at the Bulldog.
There’s probably some super witty alliteration thing we could be doing there – we’ll have our promotional team work something out for next year. You can get more information about this worthwhile event at, but come out to the downtown Bulldog 12/5 from 1-5pm to support a great cause.
And if you have a later bedtime and like to celebrate anniversaries, LWATCH is playing 12/11 at the Turf Club with The Hobo Nephews of Uncle Frank. It’s their 10th anniversary show in the cities – awesome! That’s twice as long as LWATCH has been around!
We’re fired up to be opening along with Woodblind.

These are the good ole days! Until the next time!
